About Patricia Nurchandra Designs
Patricia Nurchandra creates exotic, contemporary interiors inspired by the decorative motifs, history, and philosophies in her native country's Indonesian's ancient traditional textile art, Batik, which finds its most supreme expression in her home region, Java. Recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Indonesian Batik has an unrivalled style of intricacy, originality and imagination with wide diversity of patterns from a variety of influences, ranging from Arabic calligraphy, European bouquets and Chinese phoenixes to Japanese cherry blossoms and Indian or Persian peacocks. The motifs in Batik serve as symbols which reflect the history and philosophy of the people. Patricia's Batik designs are achieved by utilizing archived motifs/patterns dated as far back as the 7th century and applying unique contemporary colors while exploring the stories behind the motifs.
Her fabrics, wallpapers, and art prints strikes a balance between culture and sophistication for the interior needs of both residential and commercial spaces.
